My name is Stephan Heilner and I'm the iOS developer at the LDS Church
working on the LDS Tools app. A bunch of new web services just went
live that will give us access to most of the leadership data and
reports. I know it probably seems like forever since we talked about
moving over the Ward Tools functionality into LDS Tools, but we're
finally ready. If any of you are iOS developers and want to jump in
and help move this along, please let me know and I'll get you tied
in. I'm really excited to FINALLY be able to get the leadership stuff
added into LDS Tools, and am excited for all of your help!

Calvin had mainly been the only person to do the iOS dev. He granted me
access to compile on my device, but that has since expired. I would be
interested to take a look, but not sure how much time I can devote right
now.

So if there are web services, that would mean for other versions things are
available. I have worked on the Blackberry Edition and know we have others
who have worked on Android. So I am not sure what the progress of LDS Tools
is for those platforms, I do know the Gospel Library is not working for what
is published for a Blackberry, of which I just got issued a new one for work
last week and am frustrated I can't have the scriptures yet.

With the Blackberry apps, we just hired someone to work full-time on that platform, so we're hoping to get the installation problems resolved.  I'll put you in contact with Hal, the new guy.

As for Android, there is a team actively working on the app.

Do is there a resource we should look at to familiarize ourselves with what is possible with the services? I am curious how the sensitive data works, as I am an assistant clerk, but cannot see the membership info for our ward, but the Bishopric supposedly can. As clerks has access to the same information seems strange I can’t see it online.

I can't post the docs for the web services here, because the team providing the data is very sensitive about who accesses it, but I can tell you that if you can access the Leader and Clerk tools on lds.org, then you'll be able to access the reports in the app.  We will be using the same permission scheme that they are using.

So how do the WardTools Developer gain access to the docs, or is that something they are saying no to at this time? Seems that if we are to help we should be trusted to see the API documents.

I have worked on things were I only did one part and did not need full access, but I am not sure what all they are allowing with the API, but would help the security model would prevent getting information that is not pertinent to what I should see.
