To whom it may concern;
Due to increasing information security and privacy concerns throughout the world, we are asking all who have published applications that allow access to membership data for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to remove these applications from the various application stores and to discontinue the distribution of these applications through other methods. We ask that these applications be removed within the next 30 days. The reasons for this request are numerous, but here are a few of the primary concerns:
1. Use and storage of LDS Account credentials
2. Use of membership data without proper consent
3. Compliance with Data Transfer Agreements in the EU and other areas of the world
4. Inability to perform security and compliance testing and reviews on third-party applications
We understand and appreciate the time you have spent building these applications and hope you understand the reasons behind our request. If you feel like you would still like to contribute your time and energy to providing Church membership with tools and resources, we encourage you to sign up and work with the LDSTech community at http://tech.lds.org.
Sincerely,
David Hazar
