One of my assignments as exec secretary has been to assign Sacrament
meeting prayers. When I operated from a Palm, I made a list from the
MLS extracted files using perl that I imported into a Palm database
manager called HanDBase. In that database, I could record when a
person last prayed in Sacrament meeting. It helped me keep everyone
reasonably rotated through a cycle.

My Palm is no longer an option--I'm using a Droid X now. I have
HanDBase on my Droid X, but it seems a little buggy on the Android
platform and it doesn't permit making a call directly from a record,
which it did in the Palm environment. Besides, since it was a
separate database, keeping it synchronized the changing ward
membership was very tricky.

I started using Ward Tools on the during my Palm years, and now have
it on my Droid X. It is a wonderful tool to help me in my
assignment. It would be fantastic if I could use the directory to
help with the Sacrament meeting prayers. Would it be possible in Ward
Tools to maintain a file separate from the membership directory in
Ward Tools with supplementary information? It would be something like
the notes that you can enter in a scripture, or a bookmark in an e-
reader. This file should have defined fields, like a date that a
person last prayed in Sacrament meeting, and whether this person would
welcome an invitation to pray (yes/no/maybe, and possibly a note about
when I might ask again. If we could then add the ability to report on
that list in date sequence, then we would know who we might ask this
week. It would be oh so nice.

Thanks for listening.

Highly unlikely any new features for the application. The Church has been given the code base, or ownership, and they are wanting people to use LDS Tools. So what you want is another app all together, and I am not sure you will find someone who has the time to devote to it from the existing developers that has contributed thus far. It is difficult to dedicate the hours of time for something given away, not saying there are not some blessings, but reality is any long timers would most likely not be interested, in my opinion.

Thanks for the response, Andy.  I didn't think it was likely, given the transfer of code to the Church developers.  What a shame, though.  I'm still not seeing things happen in LDS Tools that I have enjoyed in Ward Tools.  Ah, well.
