taking matters into our own hands. Please join us for the second
meeting of volunteers on Tuesday February 8 if you are interested in
bringing this idea to life. Come help shape the content and focus of
this event.

Spotlight Magazine Presents the Spotlight Project Hair and Fashion May
14th 2011 Hosted By Pooch Hall (Derwin from The Game).
A Model Call will be held on Sunday February 13th 2011 between 3:00p -
8:00pm in Birmingham, Alabama
Holiday Inn and Suites, 492 Wildwood Circle N. Homewood, AL
6:00pm - 10:00pm
Arts de Valentine is a masked erotic art show featuring the work of
local and international artists curated by Leo Tichelli. All proceeds
from admission go to the Rape Response Program of the Crisis Center.

and a fully produced and mixed track from Hoodzone Productions. After
the open mic Southern Gz will perform live. Djing the event will be Dj
Quise(OKNYERADIO.COM) Any artist interested in participating in the

Vanessa Hidary, a veteran of the New York poetry/performance art
scene and HBO's Def Poetry Jam to Birmingham on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16
at Ted's Garage (5th Ave South between 23d and 24th, near WorkPlay).
Vanessa will speak to young people early in the evening and at 7:30
the doors will reopen for our fundraiser.
Vanessa's blend of humor and touching observations are compelling. You
can see/hear some of her work at www.hebrewmamita.com. She will be
followed by several of our local spoken word performers, a unique
chance for many of you to experience this form of performance art.

A hilarious comedy written by Debra Seltzer Dates: A beautiful dancer
takes a wrong turn in life. Her church family, sometimes out of
control, reaches out to help. Her pastor, who is also a stand up
comedian, at times forgets which stage he is on, puts them all in
check!!! Doors and dinner at 6:00 pm Show at 7:00 pm. Ticket prices
$27.50 Everyone is invited so come out and bring your friends and
family and have a great time with us!!!

Birmingham Mayor's Office Division of Youth Services presents 5K for
Kids: Small Steps to End Childhood Obesity and Youth First Nobesity
Expo on Saturday, March 5, 2011 Legion Field. The cost is only $20.00
per runner for the 5K Run ($10.00 per runner for youth 17 years old
and younger.)
Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and the run starts at 9:00 a.m.
(The kids' fun run begins at 10:00 a.m. on the track of Legion Field.)
You can register on line for the 5K Run at www.jlbonline.com/5kforkids
The Youth First Nobesity Expo will feature information, food and fun
to encourage a healthy lifestyle for youth. This expo is FREE and
will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Spread the word! This
