WaPOR v3 data is now available in the new portal!
Dear WaPOR Portal Users,
We are proud to announce that the WaPOR portal has moved and now features WaPOR version 3 data! The new portal is hosted on the Food and Agriculture Organization Hand-in-Hand platform which holds all of FAO's geospatial data.

The WaPOR team has been hard at work on the new portal, here are some of its key features to enhance your experience of working with WaPOR data.
The new portal features version 3 of the WaPOR dataset with an improved methodology, global coverage with a resolution of 300m, a higher resolution L3 dataset (20m instead of 30m) and a new relative soil moisture layer.

All new features include:
Faster and more user-friendly interface that makes data manipulation richer and more intuitive
A benchmark that supports several layers, including layers in different resolutions,
The ability to split the screen and compare different layers or different dates for the same layer,
The possibility to visualize an animation of time series and see the data evolve,
A wide range of base maps,
The ability to share one's results with others.
Improved analysis capabilities
Time series and cumulative time series for points and areas.
Deviation from average analysis.
Easy data download
from drawn area-of-interest,
from uploaded area-of-interest,
by country (coming soon)
as mentioned earlier, better data integration with the ability to upload user's own data or any WaPOR spatial dataset to contextualize the analysis.
Please note that the production of new WaPOR version 2 data has ceased and the old portal is not being maintained anymore. Check our website for more detailed info.
Let us know how you or your institution have used WaPOR data so far, and we will publish your work on the catalogue of uses and applications.

For users of the WaPOR API: as of December 2023, WaPOR version 2 is no longer being produced but will continue to be available through the same API, in the old portal and in the new portal as well. WaPOR version 3 is available through its own new API.

WaPOR has been recognized by the Earth Observations for the Sustainable Development Goals (EO4SDG Initiative) as one of the winners of the GEOSDG award 2023!
