Executive Assistant
JBFC is seeking a dynamic, fun-loving individual who is passionate about children, social change, and is eager to help change lives in Tanzania, East Africa. We operate a home for girls, school, healthcare clinic, and a farm in a rural village in Tanzania. The Assistant to the CEO is primarily responsible for aiding the CEO with daily functions and communication. This is a challenging, fast-paced environment, which requires someone who can improvise, be very patient, and multi-task well.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone interested in international development. We are looking for someone who will support the CEO and other Administrative Staff to ensure that all responsibilities and organizational goals are being met. It is a strenuous and stressful task, with no day looking the same, but can be extremely fulfilling and rewarding. This person must be flexible and frequently willing to put in overtime.
The position will be based on JBFC's campus in Kitongo, Tanzania, and a minimum of a one- year commitment is required. Kitongo is a rural village in Northern Tanzania and while JBFC's campus is extremely nice compared to its surroundings, it should be noted that the living conditions are fairly primitive.
Primary tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and implement on-going front office administrative tasks such as file maintenance, answering the telephone, assisting with correspondence, greeting guests and problem-solving for the CEO and Administrative Director.
- Keep the CEO's schedule and appointments. - Assist the CEO with emails.
- Create weekly progress reports (with pictures) of any construction projects and send them to the CEO and COO.
- When the CEO is absent, work to assist the Administrative and Campus Directors with his/her duties and send weekly updates to the CEO.
- Assist the CEO with communication between the US and TZ offices, keeping track of ongoing projects and reports needed and assisting with research.
- Take pictures regularly of campus activities and send to the US office to assist with the JBFC social media plan.
- Assist the CEO with any other tasks necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and ability to proactively anticipate needs
- Experience living in a developing country preferred

Headmaster: Joseph and Mary Schools (Primary and Secondary)
JBFC and the Joseph and Mary Schools are seeking an experienced, well-organized, creative educator who is passionate about children, service to others, social change, and improving education in Tanzania. The Joseph and Mary Academy is an English Medium institution consisting of classes ranging from pre-school through Form Four (O-Level Education).
The Headmaster is primarily responsible for working with the JBFC administrative staff to manage all day-to-day operations at both the primary school and secondary school. In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, the Headmaster needs to be a visionary that will help drive the mission of the organization and school.
We are looking for someone with strong problem solving skills that has the self-confidence to be both compassionate and be able to take feedback and criticism well. The Headmaster must be someone who has the ability to provide effective day-to-day leadership and must be willing to go above and beyond the typical job requirement.
Primary Tasks Include, but are not Limited to:
-Oversee all day-to-day operations at Primary and Secondary schools
-Oversee inventory of all school property, items, and supplies
-Make sure that all teachers/personnel are following daily, weekly, monthly, and annual schedule
-Act as the lead visionary in the school to constantly strive to improve operations, teaching methodologies, discipline, English usage and general direction of the institution
-Enforce, and when needed, modify school policies
-Lead weekly staff meetings
-Oversee the hiring of all school staff with JBFC administration
-Act as the first-responder for all staffing issues that may arise, communication any issues at the school with JBFC administration
-Responsible for conducting regular classroom observations-evaluating all teachers, and tracking their performance
-Work with JBFC’s administrative staff to plan, execute, and support Staff Development
-Work with the administration to set, track and maintain the entire school budget
-Meet reporting requirements as set forth by JBFC administrative staff
-Ensure effective communication within the school
-Attend weekly JBFC Manager Meeting
-All Other Duties as assigned by JBFC’s administrative staff
Requirements:
-Minimum of two years classroom teaching experience
-Degree, Bachelor’s or Diploma in Education or Educational Administration
-Proficient in technology
-Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
-Leadership experience preferred
