HI Wannabeasts!

Hope that you have had a great week so far!  Below please find a couple of reminders and the details about our run tomorrow.

1) We are still short on treat money (about $40).  If you haven't already, please bring your money with you tomorrow.

2)  This is our last week running at 6:30 am.  We move back to 7 for the first run of September.

2) Cotton is rotten!  If you haven't heard that term yet, get to know it.  Cotton clothing does not allow your skin to breath so the move to technical fabrics is a must!  You can take advantage of the discounts that the running stores give us or you can also visit stores like Target and TJ Maxx where you can find less expensive technical gear.

3)  In light of the above, here is some additional info on care of not only your clothing but yourself:

Now the part that no one wants to talk about publicly; however here goes: Personal Hygiene

When we run as a group we tend to stay(sometimes) in a 2 by 2 formation. Depending on the number of members each week this can be a very long line. As the mileage and temperatures increase, each one experiences the effects of physical exertion: i.e. PERSPIRATION. With perspiration there can be a side effect of odor. Odor is not only from our bodily pores but also from our clothing. My personal rule of thumb is not to overdue the onions and garlic on pasta on Friday night, or the red chili peppers in my tacos or (and I know this is going to hurt) that extra glass of alcohol. All of these have an effect not only on your performance but also on your perspiration. BUT this is not the only culprit, your running clothes take on a whole new persona if not treated properly. Using the same detergent for your dress clothes is not the same detergent you use on your running clothes. You must use a detergent that breaks down the enzymes. In addition, you must not just through your running clothes in the hamper for a week and then wash them on Friday. You must get these clothes wash ASAP not only for hygiene purposes but to extend the life of these garments!
