Hello, I'm writing as Interim Director of Entertainment.
Several members
have suggested that we could use this site as a place where people
could post items not related to hiking activity. For example, somebody
may have an extra concert ticket or somebody may want to go to a
musical and see if other Wanderbirds members are interested.
We also could post other notices. For example, I have a pair of gaiters (women's size small) that I can't use, but perhaps somebody else would want.
What do you think about this? We either could have the postings moderated (reviewed by somebody to make sure the content is appropriate) or we could try it for a while to see what happens.

Good idea. Is it just for members? Could members opt out of getting notified by email every time something is posted (some people might find getting emails for this to be annoying). I'd say if it was for members only, there would seem little need to moderate it.
