Hey guys (and Howard!) - what do you think about trying to play at Lifetime?

I looked, it's the same time for me to get to Lifetime as BSC - especially with no traffic.

Marshall said he would play Thursday and Saturday morning.

Samir and I are in if we start at 6:30 on Tuesday and Thursday.

Let's make this happen.

If the drive is doable I will do it. But not until Jan. Because I'm out of town for a week in december.

Does lifetime allow to play games? I may take a visit in the morning.

When I called Lifetime they said, "you can shoot around but not contact basketball". However, that was a few months ago.

My son's high school basketball team is going to play.

This new state order does allow basketball now. So, I think it's worthwhile to ask membership if they will let us play.

They may not be aware of this new state order. Do you want to talk to Lifetime when you visit, or do you want me to do that?

Hey everyone

What's the basketball status out there? I got a voicemail from BSC in Wellesley asking me if I wanted to join. Not sure exactly where that is at, but I'm really wanting to get back to some basketball and it seems like numbers and positive test rate are going down fairly quickly, so perhaps even before the vaccine is widely available the risk will be way down.

I called a whole bunch of gyms in the Waltham/Lexington area. No luck on playing basketball.

I believe BSC in Woburn is available for basketball. (Samir called them.)

Would people be interested in playing there?

I've been lucky enough to be vaccinated and I'm ready to play.

The state has been allowing AAU basketball where you have teams of 10 players playing basketball. Samir has been playing in these games. (Yes, with masks on but as you know you can't breathe through a mask and play basketball so you end up breathing around it.)

I'm guessing it won't be more than 2 months before a good chunk of people on this list are vaccinated. It will be interesting to see what policies are put in place.

From what I'm reading - there is a 90% chance you won't get infected with COVID if you are vaccinated and exposed. And, if you do get infected it will likely be asymptomatic and you only have a 10% chance of infecting others. I think what this means is that if some one who is vaccinated gets exposed to COVID and then goes and plays basketball (without a mask) there is then a 1% chance that they can infect someone else.

Go get vaccinated when you can!

Good to know. Woburn is too far for me unfortunately.

Jeremy,

Which Covid-19 vaccine did you take? Any side effects?

Moderna.

First shot my arm ached a bit. From the second shot, I got really tired for about a day. Our entire office has been vaccinated. A couple of people had it a bit worse after the second shot. But, this seems to last less than 24 hours. No runny nose or fever for me. This seems to be the standard reaction and just means that the vaccine is doing it's thing prepping your immune system.

hi,
no luck for most of us getting any vaccine anytime soon. We may have to wait till May/June to get anything. I'd also like to play but not without vaccine.

Are you assuming my race?

We make liquid dispensers that are used in COVID testing. Broad Institute in Boston uses our devices to be able to process 600,000 tests per day.

I know a hospital administrator. We ran tests for him using our own in-house testing because we could give a same-day answer. (Note, this isn't an authorized test.)  He invited us all to get vaccinated.

And don't despair. Pfizer, Modera, and J&J distributed 26 million doses in February. Looks like March that's going to increase to 73 million doses in March.

They are estimating 130M total people vaccinated by the end of March. That gets us to 40%.  I'm guessing if you are older than 45 you will be up for vaccination by then.
