The LCSC Tennis Center will host the 3rd Annual Black Friday Junior Tennis on November 29th from 1pm until completion, and the White Saturday Doubles on November 30th from 9am till completion.
These two 8 game pro set doubles events are sponsored by Dr. Tim Flock and the Lewiston Orthopedic Association.
The Black Friday Event is open to junior players from 7th grade to 12th grade. Players can enter as doubles or mixed doubles. Every doubles entry will be combined into one draw.
The White Saturday Doubles is open to all players from High School Freshman to 4.0 USTA adult level.
Depending on the number of entries received, each team ideally, will get to play between four to six 8 game sets.
Both events will feature five different characteristics:
1. A handicapped scoring system. Teams will receive a one point advantage for every game that they are behind in score, up to a maximum of three points per game. For example, if Team A is leading the set 2-0 in games, Team B will begin the third game at 30-0 (same as a 2 point lead). The maximum advantage is 40-0 (same as a three point lead).
2. The no service let rule (if the serve hits the net cord and goes into play, any player on the receiving side can make the return).
3. The Ad-Plus 1 scoring - where the first deuce in each game is an ad-in or ad-out situation. The second deuce is sudden death, and the receiving side has choice of which player to receive the no-ad point.
4. There is no tie-breaker. It is the first team to win 8 games.
5. Dress code: All black apparel or all white apparel if at all possible. The tournament director may have extra black/white shorts for use during the event.
Entry fees are $20 a person. Each player will receive a towel to commemorate the event.
Trophies will be awarded to the first and second place finishers.
