New investor Goldman Sachs also participated, alongside previous backers Sequoia Capital and Accel. Ethos said its technology streamlines the life insurance application process, eliminating some of the traditional barriers to entry, such as medical exams and commissioned agents. “You shouldn’t have to endure what’s essentially a medical and financial strip search in order to protect your family,” said co-founder and CEO Peter Colis. Australian private equity firms Brandon Capital Partners and M.H. Carnegie & Co. co-led the round, which the company will use to complete enrollment of a key clinical trial.
