New investor Goldman Sachs also participated, alongside previous backers Sequoia Capital and Accel. Ethos said its technology streamlines the life insurance application process, eliminating some of the traditional barriers to entry, such as medical exams and commissioned agents. “You shouldn’t have to endure what’s essentially a medical and financial strip search in order to protect your family,” said co-founder and CEO Peter Colis. Australian private equity firms Brandon Capital Partners and M.H. Carnegie & Co. co-led the round, which the company will use to complete enrollment of a key clinical trial. McCutcheon, the former president and CEO of Ceterix Orthopaedics and Emphasys Medical, succeeds Allan Will, who has assumed the role of executive chairman. EBR's WiSE Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) System is a wireless, endocardial (inside the heart) pacing system in clinical use for stimulating the heart's left ventricle. Financial terms of the deal, first announced last month, were not disclosed. Rambus said the acquisition will add digital controllers that will complement its high-speed physical IP cores. PeakSpan Capital led the round, which also included participation from Cisco Investments, the Texas Medical Center and previous investor U.S. Venture Partners, Luma Health will use this round of funding to scale and meet the demands of its high-velocity growth.
