Beginning in mid-September, political advertisers will need to provide extra information supporting the "paid for by" disclaimers required to accompany the ads since 2018. If advertisers don't provide the requested information -- including a U.S. street address, phone number, business email, matching website and either a tax ID number, government website domain or Federal Election Commission ID number -- by mid-October, the company said it will pause their ads. "While the authorization process won't be perfect, it will help us confirm the legitimacy of an organization and provide people with more details about who's behind the ads they are seeing," wrote Katie Harbath, Facebook's public policy director of global elections, and product manager Sarah Schiff in a blog post. https://newsroom.fb.com/news/2019/08/updates-to-ads-about-social-issues-elections-or-politics-in-the-us/ __________________________ o San Francisco-Based PeerWell Lands $6.5 Million in First Round San Francisco -- PeerWell, the San Francisco-based developer of a digital platform designed to help patients better prepare for and recover from orthopedic surgery, said it has landed $6.5 million in its first round of funding.
