Where: Valley River Inn, 1000 Valley River Way, Eugene

Description: Walk along and over the Willamette River to visit the 9
acre Owen Rose Garden. Then to the historic Shelton-McMurphy House and
up a long series of steps and a roadway to reach the summit of Skinner
Butte; enjoy an expansive view of Eugene, parts of Springfield, and the
Cascade and Coast Range foothills. Walk on a wide paved path along the
river to River Play, an innovative children's playground, and to a
replica of Skinner's cabin, the first structure in the area. Return
along the river (the Willamette Greenway) and over it to reach the
Valley River Inn. The 5 km. route skips Skinner Butte.
Driving Directions: From I-5, Exit 194B (West I-105, West 126, Eugene);
take Exit 1 (the second exit) (Delta Hwy, Santa Clara, Junction City);
stay in right lane and take the first exit to Valley River Center; keep
going right, then get into the left lane as you go over the overpass; at
bottom of overpass, turn left onto Valley River Way to its end at Valley
River Inn (on left); ask for Volkswalk box.

10k includes walk in the forest on gravel before going to area with
attractive housing by
Willamette River plus 3 other parks. 6k doesn't go into the forest but
does the nearby
neighborhood & 1 other park. Paved pathways. Group walk but also a

260 north/south. Turn
towards Keizer Station (shopping center) to 1st traffic light after RR
tracks. Left on Chemawa &
go about 3 miles passing River Rd & 4-way stop intersection. Left on
Walsh Way/boat ramp sign
at Keizer Rapids Park; Left to park in playground parking lot.

Where: Brookdale Grand Prairie, 1929 Grand Prairie Rd SE, Albany

Description:  Route goes through 5 parks and quiet residential
neighborhoods; along a bike path, a lake, and a canal. This walk
provides many opportunities to observe ducks, a variety of other birds,
and the occasional nutria.
Driving directions: From I-5 (north or south) take Exit 233 (Hwy 20).
Turn towards City Center 0.5 miles to Waverly Dr. Turn left on Waverly,
drive 1.2 miles to Grand Prairie Rd. Turn right on Grand Prairie Rd 0.4
miles to the Brookdale Villas Courtyard. Park in Visitor's area. Wood
file cabinet is in the mail room behind the reception desk.

Where: Talking Water Gardens, 577 Waverly Dr NE, Albany
Join the Fitwalkers as they do the summer version of their 5/10k Talking
Waters walk.
Description: "Walk includes the nationally recognized Talking Waters
Garden (a 50-acre man-made wetlands park, re-purposed from a lumber
mill), Waverly Lake Park and the two Swan Lakes in a residential
neighborhood, all connected by Cox Creek. This walk often provides bird
watching opportunities. Herons, geese, ducks and a wide range of small
birds are often seen on this walk."
Driving directions: I-5 southbound, exit 234B, Right at next traffic
light & left at next traffic light (Salem Rd), right on Davidson, right
on Front which will join Waverly to the TWG parking lot. I-5 northbound:
exit 234. Left on Knox Butte Rd and then follow above directions.

Tue, February 28, Mt Angel - Old German Town
When: Registration 9:45 – Walk 10:00am – 12:30pm
Where: Mount Angel Towers, 1 Towers Ln, Mt Angel

Description: This walk starts by going up to the Abbey (founded 1881).
You will pass the stations of the cross, a small grotto, a pioneer
church and cemetery, and chapel on the campus. The route then goes
through this unique German town passing St. Mary's Church, the
Glockenspiel Restaurant (largest Glockenspiel in the U.S.), a second
pioneer cemetery, a hops field, 2 parks, and an historic railroad
station. Walk is rated 2 because of the Abbey hill, the rest of the walk
is 1A. .
Driving directions: From the north on I-5, take the Woodburn exit #271,
follow the signs east to Mt. Angel along Hwy 214. Turn left on Church
St./ From the south on I-5 take Market St. exit #256 (Salem). Follow the
signs east along Hwy 213 to Silverton. At the traffic light, turn left
on "C" St. to First St., turn left on First St./Hwy 214 to Mt. Angel.
Turn right on Church St. Follow Church St. up the hill (Church becomes
College St.) to Towers Lane on Left. Start Book is at the Reception
Desk. Please do not park under the carport!
