Register at Hi-School Pharmacy, 1357 Monmouth St,
Independence between 9:45 & 10. Restrooms at nearby McDonald’s
The 10k goes to downtown Monmouth, Western OR Univ
and Edwards Addition, a residential area with holiday décor.
Changes have been done at WOU area. The 5k goes to/from
Edwards Addition and doesn’t go to downtown/WOU.
Driving directions: FROM I-5, exit 253 to Salem City Center.
Follow signs to OR22 West. Right lane on Front St to ramp up to
cross bridge; 5 1/2 miles on OR22 before left on OR51 South to
Independence. Right on Monmouth St to Central Plaza Center
at 13 St on left.
FROM 99W east on Main St at traffic light in Monmouth to go to
Independence. Right at 2nd traffic light at Gun Club Rd (by McDonald's)
to Start Point.

Walk in residential districts and into beautiful Laurelhurst Park.
Walk continues along Hawthorne Blvd. with unique shops, exotic
restaurants and interesting people. Walk this day will highlight Peacock
Lane known for their Christmas Decorations. Lights on Peacock Ln start
at 6PM

Comments
Two 5km loops- The West Loop will go through Sellwood Park then down to
the Willamette River
and through Sellwood Waterfront Park then return on the Springwater
trail past the Puppet
Museum to New Seasons Market. The East Loop will go through Westmoreland
Park and
residential and commercial areas of Sellwood. Many interesting shops and
restaurants in
Sellwood commercial area.

New Year’s Day Walk - EVENT
Celebrate New Year’s Day in the morning walking with a choice of 3
different 5 km routes and one 6k routes. The NW Loop (rated 1B) will be
in older nice residential areas and in a small wooded park with dirt
trail. The NE Loop (rated 1A -6km) is on paved pathways near and in
residential areas. The SE Loop (rated 1A) will mainly be in Pacific
Community Park on paved or gravel trails and the SW Loop (rated 1A) will
be in a newer area with some very nice homes.
Group walks start at 9:30
There will be random prizes of Champagne and Sparkling Cider awarded to
some walkers.
