Ride on a train, tram & trolley. Plus walk on trails and across the
Tilikum Crossing Bridge. These makeup the 5Ts of Portland.

TIMES: Start table open: 10:45am to 11:00am. Sign up for the 5-T walk
will be at the Union Station (AMTRAK) from 10:20 to 10:35 am provided
the trail arrives on schedule.  For those of us that live in the
Portland/Vancouver area, I recommend that you buy an all day ticket and
take the train or trolley to Union Station.   Max and Trolley Tickets
for 2 ½ hours are $2.80 ($1.40 for those 65 or older).  All day is $5.60
($2.80 for those 65 or older).    If you do not use a train or trolley
ticket to get to Union Station then I recommend getting a 2 ½ hour
ticket as the time starts when you board the train or trolley.  You do
need to validate your ticket every time you change transportation.

This walk mimics the 4Ts walk in Portland. Participants will ride a
tram, trolley and train. Also you will walk on trails and across the
Tilikum Crossing Bridge. Both the 5km and 10km routes will include these
5 events.
Comments
Washington participants can enjoy an Amtrak train ride from Olympia,
Washington to Portland, Oregon all on the same day.
While in Portland you will do the 5Ts walk, which consist of walking and
riding.You will ride on a Tram, Train (Streetcar) and Trolley (Max
Train) and Walk on some Trails and across the Tilikum Crossing Bridge.
These consist of the 5Ts. Dick Baker will meet everyone at the Amtrak
Train Station with instructions and maps. Some local walkers will join
the walkers at the
train station.The walk will start shortly after the scheduled 11am train
from Olympia has arrived at
the train station
Please note that the 6 km this year is rated easy and you will not have
to hike up the Conner Trail.
6 km rated 1A (easy), 10 km rated 2B (moderate)
6km route – Rated 1A
    The 6 km walk will start at Union Station and walk to Pioneer
Plaza.  From there you will walk to the Willamette River going upstream
(south) until reaching the Tram Station.  At the Tram station you will
pay $8 credit or debit cards only to ride the Tram to the top and then
return back down.  You will then walk to & across the Tilikum Crossing.
    You will then board the Trolley and ride it to Portland State where
you will change to the Max (train) to ride to the Union Station and finish.
10 km Route – Rated 3B
     The 10 km will start at Union Station and walk to Pioneer Plaza. 
The walk will continue on a gradual slope up 6th St. until reaching the
bottom of Marquam Nature Park.  You  will enter the Park and take
natural steep trails to the top  (Conner 0.9km and Marquam Trails 0.1 km).
    Upon reaching the top you will walk a few blocks and enter a
medical complex of 3 different entities to the Tram Station.  The
hallways are marked showing where to go for the Tram.  At the Tram you
will pay $8 using Credit of Debit cards only.
    After exiting at the bottom, you will walk to and across the
Tilikum Crossing where you will board the trolley and ride it to the
Central Library.  You will exit the trolley at the Library and cross
Yamhill to board the train (MAX) where you will ride the train across
the Willamette River.
     Walkers will exit on 7th Ave and walk to and through the MODA
Center, across the Broadway Bridge back to Union Station.

Portland: Using US Hwy 26 Westbound or I-5 (both directions) go to US
Hwy 217 exit for either
highway. Take the exit for Hwy 217 and go to Farmington Road exit
(Oregon Hwy 10). Turn West
on Farmington Road, going a long distance to where it will "dead end" at
Hwy 219. Turn RIght on
Hwy 219 and go a short distance to SW Unger Road. Turn Left on SW Unger
Road. Drive to
Dixon Mill Road. Turn Left on Dixon Mill Road and continue to entrance
for Chehalem Ridge
Nature Park on your Right. Continue a short distance to the park area
after the road has turned to
gravel. Look for us in the partking lot.

The event will be available as two 5 km loops beginning and ending at
Esther Short Park. The
East Loop will take you thru the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site
where you will see the
reconstructed Old Fort Vancouver & Officer Row, which includes the
Marshall House, O.O.
Howard House, and Grant House. You will also be able to see the historic
Pearson Air Field &
Museum. You will tour thru the historic Vancouver Barracks. The
Northwest Loop will take you
thru some beautiful old Vancouver neighborhoods & parks, and a meander
thru the historic
Uptown commercial district
