Where: Minto-Brown Island Park, 2200 Minto Island Rd SW SE, Salem
Description: Meet at the kiosk by parking lot & Dog Park.
Description: Minto-Brown Island Park, 5/10k, rated 1A, sponsored by
Willamette Wanderers. The 10k has 2 5k loops, one of which is the 5k. 
You may view Deer, Bald Eagles and other small wildlife on this walk.
You will also have a good view of an osprey nest. You will be walking on
paved and nature trails. WOC: Nature, Nuts, Orchards, Parks, Pedestrian
Bridge, Playgrounds, Rivers, Unique.
Driving directions: I-5 take exit 253, head to Salem City Center,
continue three blocks on Mission to Commercial St, turn left onto
Commercial Street and get into the right lane. Turn right onto Owens
Street. Owens curves to the left and becomes River Road. Go for about a
mile. Turn right onto Minto Island Road into park. Follow park roadway
to the end at parking area 3. Walk begins at the information kiosk
adjacent to parking area 3

The 5K walk travels on unimproved trails through Happy Valley Park and
then through
neighborhoods and green space. The 10k walk continues on boardwalk
through wetlands, goes
along Mt. Scott Creek and then up a 3 Block hills to reach breathtaking
views of the valley. It then
continues downhill through nature areas.

exit 195, onto
West Bound Randy Pape Beltline. Drive 3.2 miles and exit Delta Hwy.
Valley River Center. Enter
Left lane and LEFT at light onto Delta. Hwy. Go 1.4 Miles To exit Valley
River Center. Stay in
Center Lane, straight to end at parking lot at Valley River Inn. The
start tables will be near the
River trail walk start point at the edge of the parking area. In the
event of steady rain we will be in
the Hotel Lobby. Just follow the walk signs. There will be a quarterly
OTSVA meeting after the
walk at Natural Grocers, 201 Coburg Road, just a five minute drive from
the Inn Meeting will start
at 1:00 pm. I will have driving directions at the start table for the
meeting.

Join us for this nice flat walk along both sides of the Willamette River
to enjoy the fall colors along
nice wide paths a great walk with lots of treed areas and bird life, a
walk that Britt would have
loved. When arriving at the Valley River Inn, follow the Walk start
Signs for registration. There are
plenty of places to eat following the walk that are within walking
distance from Valley River Inn.
For those attending the OTSVA Meeting, driving directions will be
provided at the start table.

Luscher Farms is a community garden featuring the Rogerson Clematis
Garden. Once a dairy
farm owned by Rudie and Esther Luscher. You should see some creative
scarecrows in the
garden plots. Oswego Hill Vineyard and Winery is family owned and
specializes in 20 handcrafted
wines including whites, reds, sparkling and dessert.Cooks Butte Park is
42 acres of soft and
moderately easy trails (though look at the rating) some areas are a bit
steep.This butte is a 720 ft
boring volcano. There are 14 Boring vents west of the Willamette River
and Cooks Buttes double
summit has two of them. Named after James P. Cook who worked in the iron
industry.You will
walk through neighborhhoods of beautiful homes, a pioneer cemetery and
peaceful easterly
views.Both the 6km and 10km/11km routes go through Luscher Farms

Sunday Stroll, Oct 9 at 11 at 1PM – Salem
Join the Willamette Wanderers as they walk their 5/10k SE Salem YRE.
This walk is going into retirement next year so this is your last chance
to do it for a while.  The walk goes through attractive nearby housing
areas with more hills on the 10k.
   Meet at 9:45 to register at Safeway, 5660 Commercial St SE, which
has the only restrooms on this walk.
   Driving directions:  5660 Commercial St SE, Salem, 503-364-4192.
From 1-5 North or Southbound EXIT 249 on Kuebler Blvd , west towards Salem.
Left on Commercial St to 2nd traffic light at Fabry Rd. Safeway on left.

Enjoy a Year-Round Walk Safely:
Walking is good for you. The State organization in Oregon (OTSVA) is
encouraging individuals or couples walkers to walk the many clubs
Year-Round- Events (YRE’s). Since many of the Starting Points are
closed, it is recommended that you not sign in at this time but to just
do the walk, keep track of the date and walk.  When things get back to
normal, you would then sign in, pay your fees, and stamp your event and
distance books. For those who walk but do not keep books, you would just
keep track of the walks and when this coronavirus is no longer a threat
sign in and contribute what you wish to help support our organization.
