Hello WalkMedford,

WalkMedford, local resident and parent Dave McKenna and members of the city council, school committee and local community are gathering for a walk audit around the Salem St. rotary on Wednesday, March 19 at 5 pm at City Hall.

Medford has seen two deaths in the last few months on our state roads, most recently at the Salem St. rotary.
We are grateful to Emily Lazzaro and the Medford City Council for their recent attention to this issue, in asking for a reduction of speed limit on state roads in our city; as well as a resolution mourning the death of Dan Dill on the Mystic Valley Parkway.

WalkMedford offers its deepest condolences and sorrow to the families and friends of Dan and Arthur, the two men killed on Medford's roads this winter.

MassDOT has indicated there will be some changes made at the Salem St. location. However, the danger in this rotary is at unacceptable levels and we feel that they need to hear from the community before finalizing these changes. For too long, our state agencies have designed roads and "improved" them without truly taking the time to ask what the community needs.

We hope that you can join us to see firsthand the conditions people from the East side of the city face in trying to reach their square and City Hall, as well as offer your ideas about the changes you'd like to see in this intersection.

Regards,

Ellery Klein
