Hola. Hey I think I remember reading that there was some thought about
building in a training log function...has there been any development
on this?

Hi Gang,
We're working on it but we just can't accomplish as much in our spare time as companies who do this full time.  We're considering making the training diaries a pay service to help pay for future developments - would that still be of interest?  If so - how much would you consider reasonable for a one year membership?

Hi Adam. I understand completely. I was hesitant about asking cuz I
know this is a spare-time thing for you. To answer your first
question, yeah, I think I would still be interested if a diary
function was a pay service. As for a reasonable fee, well, that's a
tough one!

Never be afraid to ask!  If I stop answering your questions, email Jeff and tell him to give me a sharp kick somewhere soft!  I appreciate your question more importantly because it helps me gauge interest in the features we are working on/considering.    How would a Flickr style fee of $25 per year sound?

25 bucks would work for me!

There are already a LOT of other run log services out there that don't
charge anything. While I understand that they have websites FULL of
advertising (and please, if you go down that road, don't make it so
intrusive that you don't know what is part of the site and what is an
advert!) which probably help pay for this, if I was going to pay for
an online running journal/route planner I would want it to be
AWESOME!! So if you go down this road, please please pleaaaasssseeee
make it the best there is!! ... and I'm sure there would be plenty of
users ready to offer advice as to what they would be looking for :)

Awesome is always the goal, but I can almost guarantee you whatever we
did would not be free. You'd probably be amazed at how much running
this site is costing Adam and I on a monthly basis and the one google
ad we're running on it doesn't even cover basic costs most months.
Honestly if each member (not even the guests, but the people that have
actually signed up) donated just $1 each, we'd be in a much better
position than we are now.

I'm sure there are plenty of free services out there, some littered
with ads and some maybe not. We definitely do not want to go the
littered with ads route and free...well that doesn't pay so well.
There are also plenty of other free mapping sites, but most we've seen
are not fun to use and/or are completely littered with ads. Our goal
with WJR has always been to make it easy to find and create routes
(and hopefully have some fun along the way). Somewhere in all the fun
it became a costly business, so we're trying to come up with ways to
offset those costs. I'm sure you understand.

So, since you've brought it up, I'd love to know what you would be
looking for in an awesome training log app? :-)

It's a fair call, and considering how much I'm starting to use the
annoying free ones, I think I'd be willing to pay for a non-annoying,
unbelievably awesome one (feeling the pressure?). I'll give this some
proper thought and reply accordingly later today.
