These are the People for Bikes annual city ratings of bike friendliness.

We're much better at pedal taverns than we are pedal bicycles.

I was in Arlington VA last weekend and they score a 56. We're an 18 and rank 91st of 104 large cities. I'm pretty sure that's a failing grade on the Bell curve.

Why are we failing? Anybody, thoughts? If the only measure was Nashville/Davidson County, maybe we would score higher. Are the measuring instruments fair? That is, geographically I would submit we are a rural state with,. I believe, few folks in the country riding bicycles.

I assume there are specific categories wherein a city is scored. Do we, then, get our folks to take category assignments. Report back and formulate a plan to attempt to move us up the scale. Or, as suggested, are we doomed by what happens outside the cities.
