Apparently this will be heard at the Transportation Licensing Commission this week. His writing skills need some work but who am I to criticize.

Thoughts?

Subject: Transportation option PEDICAB!

Good morning!

My name is Travis Stowers ,

I am scheduled to meet you all Thursday for approval for 20 permits for Nashville Bike Cab.  I thought I’d introduce myself.  I own Pedicabs in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Galveston Texas all cities where there were no pedicabs before I decided to start up.  I also own Pedicabs in Indianapolis Indiana (They had a company I tried to help and then they got tired and just sold it to me)  my home town. I’m going on 17 years of doing pedicabs

Anyway I fell in love with Nashville this year.  I think you all have a marvelous city with an excellent problem to have.  Your problem is people all want to come and visit and live in Nashville! It has really turned into a tourist mecca.

Pedicabs are a stable in every major city and now smaller cities across the world.  Nashville has zero.  I see a huge niche in your fine city, which as we found out at your last transportation meeting is that injuries on scooters rise when the sun goes down.   To come to the conclusion that people drinking are using them and crashing, one option is to let us work.  High heels and alcohol has made me a living!  Pedicabs are fun and yes they are functional. There is a differential on the rear and they turn on a dime being one of the most maneuverable vehicles on the streets.  We are also so small that we can alway find a staging area out of the way, we need nothing from the city to start other than these licenses and approval.  I can go on and on about how great and how much I love pedicabs.  It truly is the greatest job for college students.  When I jumped on a pedicabs in San Diego I realized this and is then main motivator or my life.  The pedicab has such flexible hours and the ability to make drivers great money.  the harder they work they more money they make.  Such an easy concept that you find in hardly any other jobs.

Nashville has so many options from Gas powered golf carts(I’ve never seen those in any other city-pollution and safety) Golf Carts allowed on public streets in cities normally are NEV’s which meet federal safety protocol and are electric.  You also have tractors pulling trailers, pick up trucks selling tours.  Pickup trucks pulling trailers selling tours and pedal Carriages. I own pedal carriages in Houston and Dallas but I plan on not wanting to open up in Nashville as your city has too many as it is.  With all these crazy options hardly any can do what a pedicab does.  Open air rides on a bicycle at a speed where guests gets some of the greatest views of the city.  Plus we get them where they want to go.  Point A to point B rides.  Fun great safe way to be a part of Nashville.  We have to work hard to become very knowledgable of everything Nashville to give the best customer service possible.  I train and preach my crews to be concierges to know all the bars, restaurants, buildings and history of where we work.  People see a big giant tricycle and they all come and ask us questions and then if we know and give them options or better suggestions then most likely they take a ride!

I see a huge niche and opportunity to put pedicabs in Nashville.  I have the history the means and want to do this.  I run at such a great level where I have a contract to put 30 pedicabs inside the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the past eight years.  I have multiple references and multiple contracts that I’ve had for 15 plus years.

I love pedicabs I hope you all believe in me as I just see and want to add 20 plus jobs.  My track record of being successful in every city I’ve started up and continue to be in should be proof enough that Nashville needs pedicabs.

I appreciate your time and will see you Thursday!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Always refreshing to encounter someone who loves his work. Just returned from Boston where there are lots of these and they seem harmless enough (and of course they are nonpolluting). Seems okay as long as he's not helping his passengers prep for the essay part of the GRE.

We have had these before in Nashville, no?
I do like the passion he has, and would certainly support him getting his licenses.
