I’ll leave it to someone else to explain the relationship between “urbanism” and multi-modal transportation, including biking and walking.   I’m told they are closely related.

You may have seen articles about the “guerrilla movement” to build benches replacing the ones on KVB removed by the O’Connell administration.

Here is a statement by one of the leaders (although she may reject that label) Robin Lovett-Owen. She is a member of the Vision Zero Advisory Committee and I’m pretty sure number 1 is especially relevant to us.

  1. Create a team of in-house NDOT employees who work solely to install and maintain bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.
  2. Restore the permanent benches on Korean Veterans Boulevard.
  3. Restore the permanent benches across the street from the Downtown Library.
  4. Install benches at all 1,500 WeGo bus stops across the city by December 2027.
  5. Maintain all wooden benches at all stops until permanent benches are installed.
