Any lawyers out there who will volunteer to analyze the new e-bike law and give us an opinion? I know it allows local governments to ban class 1 and 2 e-bikes from streets and highways, but it doesn’t mention class 3. I want to know if there is anything I’m missing. It did raise the age from 14 to 16 to ride a class 3 but that’s no big deal unless you’re 15.
Cities already had the authority to ban them from trails and class 3 were automatically banned from greenways (and still are).
Brentwood has already done something about greenways, but I don’t think it was that drastic. Franklin is (apparently) putting together some committee to study the issue. The bill came out of Williamson County.

operation of a class 1 electric bicycle or class 2 electric bicycle on any part of a street

prohibition is necessary, in the interest of public safety.
