Hello to All!

We are getting VERY close to the date of the Walk now and things are coming together well! We are all very excited!

There are some great folks flying in for the event and we are going to have some wonderful guest speakers.  The Mayor of Tucson has agreed to be present
at the Walk and will make a short presentation at the beginning to help kick off the event. Our Ward 4 City Council Representative will also be present for a time in support of victims. We are so glad they are coming!

Colleen Lynn, the founder and President of DogsBite.org will also be attending and will be one of our guest speakers, as well as Tony Solesky, from Maryland's Tracey vs. Solesky court case, in which Maryland's high court ruled that "pit bulls are inherently dangerous....and that landlords can now be held liable if a pit bull attacks someone."  We also have a victim's mother coming all the way from Canada to speak and to share her experiences with us.

The Red Cross could not find a volunteer that could be present at the Walk to hand out information and take names for a future blood drive for dog attack victims, but they did provide the information to hand out, and some sign up sheets.  We WILL have a Red Cross table for people to sign up to donate blood for a future blood drive for dog attack victims, and we will hand out the information as the Red Cross was kind enough to provide the materials for us to do this.  But we do NEED A VOLUNTEER who can sit at the table and do this for us. I would be happy to speak with anyone who might want to volunteer to do this.  You can contact me at 520-261-9913

We may also need volunteers for other things, so if anyone out there is interested, please feel free to contact me at the number above.

We have been in contact with KGUN 9 news, who will be covering the Walk, and another Press Release will be going out any day now.

Fliers for the event will be going up all over town in just a few days, and I will need some volunteers to help with this as well.  We do have to be careful where we post fliers and make sure we have the permission we need to do so.

My boyfriend and I will be attending the City meeting next week to discuss the event with the city, Tucson Police, and the fire department and address any issues that could arise at the event.  Security has already been secured for the event, but this meeting will help us address any other issues that might come into play.

We've secured a permit to take donations in the park for a local victim. If anyone knows someone who may be in need of help please let me know.

Our food vendor, East Coast Super Subs, is in the process of securing their permit to vend their delicious subs for our event.

Stay tuned for future updates.
