I just got this and suggest each of you check this out for yourselves. Grandpa Stone and Thomas Banyaca as well as my Dad, Jerome FourStar and many others as well were forced to attend the Govt. Indian Schools or Mission Schools. It is what happened, and in some ways is still happening, perhaps it will explain some of what many of you have questioned me about.
Thanks Nora and Richard for the heads up!
Best, Gary

Hi Debby and Gary --
You may already be aware of this film about indian boarding schools. I recently found information about it online when searching for Walter Littlemoon -- some one I knew during the early 90s. He offered sweat lodges in the Pensacola area, and his were the first traditional lodges I attended.
Walter is from the Wounded Knee community -- struggling, as many have, with the trauma of his boarding school experiences. This documentary explores the harsh realities of boarding schools and the healing that is happening now.
It's wonderful to see that Walter, at 65, is still going -- and growing -- strong. If you click on the Trailers page of the second link, you'll see a couple of interviews with him. Walter is one of the most generous, beautiful Human Beings I've ever known, and I'm so happy to see him still working to help and heal his community.
Take care --
Nora
