Hi Everybody,
first big acknowledgement to everybody who came to the meeting, it was a great kickoff and wonderful to meet you (again)! For the people who wanted to come but couldn't make it: great you are joining in too and hope you can come to the next meeting!
As you see I setup a group. Mails to walkfo...@googlegroups.com will reach automatically everybody. Please add yourself if you are not yet on the group and invite others to join!
----
Last meeting:
I explained the general overview of the vision of the world walk for change and everybody introduced him/herself and added their vision. We spoke about the set up of teams and about general ideas. Everybody was very enthousiastic and committed. We spoke about to start gathering on the 10th but only leave on the 11th because of Sukot, about being able to be on time for the gathering of the worldmarch for peace and non-violence on the 16th in Ein Haniya and about projects connected to the walk like wanting to help with the Olive harvest and Abed's situation
present: Aaron, Alice, Pader, Ganem, Or, Tali, Inbal, Daniel, Elad, Rachel, Jameel, Eliyahu, Lisa, Mohammed, Abed, Chaim, Ibrahim, Marc
The next meeting will be:
Sunday september 6, 15.00 in Abed's place, alWalaja (allnationscafe).
after the checkpoint Ein Yael, directly left up the dirt road.
-------
We need to set up the teams now:
-media
-food
-logistics, route, guides (Jameel & Or?) -medical -activities/art (Or, Shiri, Ranem, Mohammed?) -healing (see below)
who wants to be busy with which subject? reply to this mail to let everybody know!
After the meeting I had many thoughts and conversations and I came to a couple of conclusions:
-it is very important to combine activities: so the walk SHOULD come to the day of the 16th!
that means that indeed we should either start walking earlier or start closer away.
My suggestion is to do both: To start a few days earlier for the people who want to walk AND to make a second entrance for the people who celebrate sukot and come the 11th or 12th. Besides that we should create more entrypoints for people to join.
the 10th of the 10th is a symbolic day, so we can keep it as the official start day and even create a gathering with musicians.
In india at the same time there will be a concert and the people there want to work together. We might be able to create a life stream between india and israel over the internet.
-there should be a inner circle support group. If we want to create peace, unity, love there has to be first trust and self-esteem.
and before carrying it out to others, we have to start with ourselves.
As persons of western societies we are very much in a 'victim' role (I can't help it that they......). Israeli also (otherwise they push us into the sea...) and Palestians (they the jordans, egyptians, israelis never liked us and never will treat us as equal) too.
As long as we don't clean that background inside ourselves truthfully, we cannot expect others to do it.
Even if in the case of the walk the Israelis who participate have a total equalness feeling towards the palestinians, if the palestinians still think they are dependent on the israelis for work, freedom or otherwise, it can be never a real partnership.
so, i think the walk should have a very strong structure of support. i mean listening circles, coaching sessions, workshops etc. and also for example that people walk in couples, sharing the feelings that they are experiencing.
because the walk will be very emotional for some people of both sides, there has to be a support team!
I suggest that we start meeting with a couple of people who want to set this up, think it out, do the work with eachother, so to be a strong body afterwards in the walk.
let me know who wants to be in this team!
- @ aaron, chaim: I saw walkforchange.org and walkforchange.net are available, can you register the domains? thanx!
If you have quesions, mail or calll me!
Let's keep each other informed about what is going on!
Peace, Shalom, Salem
