For some additional information about the project and outcomes, see message below.
Please share this Wikimap widely with our school and community contacts to invite comment. This input tool will be used to prioritize locations for infrastructure investment in the coming years. There are only about 60 comments on the maps, highlighting trouble spots.
(Probably more now as this was more widely distributed over the weekend)
There are several comments in the NE quadrant of the map. Without even zooming in on the map, I knew it was around Jane Adams school. Why? They have a very active, organized, and vocal PTA.
The first item in need of attention is our School Safety WikiMap. Our consultants at Toole Design Group have developed this online tool to help us gather information from the public about the challenging conditions and behaviors they observe on our streets. This information will be used to prioritize future infrastructure investments, enforcement activities and educational outreach. In fact, we will develop conceptual designs for 12 locations selected through this exercise and construct them over the next few years. The
comment period ends on January 9th so there are just a few more weeks to provide feedback. SDOT and our partners at Feet First have conducted in person outreach at a dozen schools to ensure that we hear from communities citywide and we’d love your help to spread the word about this effort. If possible, please share this via your blogs, newsletters, Facebook pages or PTA meetings. We’ll be posting about this effort on the
SDOT Blog tomorrow. Check out the wikimap here:
