Ditch Trail Cleanup – Village of Los Ranchos (Pueblo Acequia)

 

      WHEN:          Saturday, 21 April 2007, 9 AM to noon

 

      WHERE:        Sign-in where Green Valley Road intersects the Pueblo Acequia.  From Los Ranchos Village Hall & Fire Station, head north on Rio Grande Boulevard about 0.20 miles to Green Valley Road.  Head east on Green Valley about 0.26 miles to the Pueblo Acequia.       WHY:             Have fun, get exercise, keep the valley clean, and show support for the Ditches with Trails Project.

 

      WHAT TO BRING:   Dress in layers appropriate for spring.  Wear sun screen, long sleeves, a hat and heavy gloves.  It may be helpful to bring a pitch fork and branch clippers.  Water and light snacks will be provided by the Ditches with Trails Project.

Planning Workshop – Focusing on Corner of Unser & Central

 

      WHEN:          Saturday, 21 April 2007, 8:30 AM to 3 PM

 

      WHERE:        West Mesa Community Center – 550 Glenrio NW (click here to view a map)

Earth Day Festival at La Montanita Coop (Nob Hill)

 

      WHEN:          Sunday, 22 April 2007, 10:30 AM to 6 PM

Metropolitan Transportation Board – Important Meeting!

 

      WHEN:          Thursday, 26 April 2007, starting at 5 PM

 

      WHERE:        Mid-Region Council of Governments, Board Room -- 809 Copper Avenue NW (click here to view a map)

 

      WHY:             At this meeting, the Metropolitan Transportation Board is scheduled to adopt a new Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for our region.  The Board will also adopt new Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) project lists for the 2006-2011 and 2008-2013 time periods.  Walk Albuquerque urges you to attend this meeting.  We ask you to remind the Board that walking is an integral part of our region’s transportation system and deserves abundant support both through the policy framework of the MTP and through incorporation of well-funded pedestrian-oriented projects and programs in the TIP (i.e., especially those that enable pedestrians to circulate safely and comfortably in activity centers, in major public transportation corridors, and to and from schools).

      WHERE:        Sign-in near where Freeman Avenue crosses the Harwood Lateral.   From Griegos Road, turn south onto Ninth Street.  Go south on Ninth St. about 0.25 miles to Freeman.  Head east on Freeman to the Harwood Lateral (click here to view a map).
