Greetings Walk Albuquerque friends and supporters--
This message is to let you all know that WALK Albuquerque will again be offering its "Walking and Rolling" class this semester through the UNM Department of Continuing Education. The class is being taught by Kathy Chilton and Carolina Yahne with the assistance of Diane Scena. The format is basically the same this semester as it was last year. This is an excellent opportunity to get out and do some walking in our community this winter. I hope you all will consider enrolling. COURSE TITLE: Walking and Rolling Around ABQ (Class Number 10690RA)
REGISTRATION: Register at University of New Mexico Continuing Education: www.dce.unm.edu
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Walking is a way to know our community close up. It is also good exercise to enhance physical and mental health. Colorful brochures about walking tours in 5 historic neighborhoods will be given to class participants. Students and instructors will walk each of the five tours together. Students in wheelchairs and those with visual impairment are especially invited to participate, as part of our objective in the class is to identify accessible areas for all abilities. Invited guest guides from the non-profit organization WALK-ABQ may join us. Suggestions will be offered about how to use Rapid Ride and other bus routes to reach the start of each walking tour. Students are encouraged to dress in layers, and bring their cameras, notebooks, sunscreen, hats, maps, pedometers, water bottles and creative thinking. We will walk even if the weather is cold!
