Hi, all,

One of our volunteers last weekend suggested another workday in the ravine this spring, and I think that's a great idea.

We are in a race to remove lesser celandine while it's still visible (it dies back soon),  so I'd like to plan a workday for April 19,  from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   I'm optimistic that we can hold the line on lesser celandine but it will take some work this year.  I don't want us to become Whetstone Park.  See attached video.

Where Courtney and Heather cleared a few years ago, the celandine is still under control, with only a few plants needing to be removed. But in a year, there will be dozens more. If we do a good job removing large patches, we can control it with yearly work.  Homeowners will need to do their own lots,  but we have a lot of space where we can work.

I'll be getting our donation of  trees from Green Columbus on April 16, and I'll be giving them out later that day and through the weekend.  The workday and the tree giveaway coincide with Earth Day.

Assuming we get what I ordered, here are the choices.  Please email me (cindy....@gmail.com) directly with  orders now.  You don't have to be directly on the ravine to get these.

Asimina triloba - Pawpaw
Calycanthus floridus - Common Sweetshrub
Cornus amomum - Silky Dogwood
Cornus foemina (racemosa) - Gray Dogwood
Hamamelis Virginiana - Witchhazel
Lindera benzoin - Spicebush

Here's the Whetstone video.  All that green is lesser celandine. Notice nothing is coming through it, no bluebells, not toothwort, not small trees or ferns.

I promise to send another email with info on just lesser celandine removal info.   Life has been busy so this is all I can manage right now.  More to come.
