We woke up this morning to find a bunch of charred foam in the yard.  I drove past Walhalla Terrace on my way to work - the top two floors are completely gone - the lower floors are probably not salvageable.  It was truly a sad sight to see...  I saw the red lights at about 6:00am (although I thought it was a car accident at the time.)  - So maybe workers had come by early to get some space heaters going ...?

Thanks Dave and Cindy.  The video at the wbns site is even more amazing than the still pictures.  Has anyone heard from John and Tom or Dianne and Pat?

Dave Tiger awakened me around 3:30 and wanted out this is usually early for him so I let me go out and he was barking, barking, I pulled him back in did not smell anything until Sara Ellis called me around 4:30 and said to look West and it was a glow.  Police cars, fire trucks, TV crew.  I'm glad no one was in there or glad they got out.  Hope it was not something to get insurance... I was concerned for the ravine I kept seeing clouds of smoke .  4,6,10 had clips of the fire at noon.  Kim

Surely we are not the only ones who are concerned with the big black
chunks of charred toxic insulation that cover a large area around the
fire site… our creek, our wild life, and our pets are no doubt
affected. Has anyone made mention of a cleanup/removal of this
harmful debris - the media, the city, Terraces on Walhalla? It does
cover city streets, private property, businesses, etc.

Jeffrey,

I was thinking the same thing, so we have been picking pieces of the burned
insulation up on our "trash" walks a couple times a week. The quantity we
gather depends on how much room is left in the bag after the slew of beer
cans and bottles and McDonalds cups and broken computers/TV's dropped from
the Calumet bridge. By the time we get to the Calumet bridge, we're usually
getting full, and that's where the insulation starts to appear.

BTW, the EPA Detective is still on the case regarding the 50+ paint bucket
dumping that occurred in the creek a couple months ago. He called us the
other day to get more details about the vehicle we saw. He did mention that
they have a suspect (but of course didn't say who this person is).

I forwarded concerns to Bill (one of the realtors working on the ToW
project). Here's what he had to say.

Jeff-

I have alerted the Developers of Terraces on Walhalla to the residents
concerned. They are working with the City on getting permission to
remove the ravine debris. I will let you know as soon as I ravine an
update. Feel free to share with your neighbors.

Best Regards,
Bill

About the debris, I live at the corner of Midgard and Woodbine and by 7:30
a.m. on the morning of the fire, burned insulation pieces were up and down
Woodbine. Though we did an initial clean-up, we are still finding pieces.
