Hi Neighbors,

I’m reaching out with a problem-solving question about something that has been increasingly concerning for my family over the years, and I’d appreciate any thoughts or guidance. I’m also not sure there’s a clear legal path to address it, which is part of why I’m asking the group.

Some of you may be aware of an individual named Brian Andrew Grossman who lives near Cornerstone Café. Over the past decade, there have been multiple instances of concerning behavior connected to him in the neighborhood, including harassment and the promotion of extremist views. A few of the times Clintonville has been targeted by white nationalist activity have, to my knowledge, been tied to him or people he’s encouraged.

Without going into too much detail, there is a documented pattern of troubling behavior online and in public spaces locally. Some of you may have encountered or heard about incidents near the post office, local businesses, or along High Street.

I’m raising this because of ongoing concerns about safety and privacy. He is frequently in the Walhalla ravine area—often at night—and has been observed using binoculars in ways that feel intrusive, including toward nearby homes. As someone raising a family here (and in a Jewish household), this has made a place that has always been meaningful to me since being a kid feel less safe than it used to.

I want to be clear that I’m not encouraging anyone to engage with or confront him. My goal is simply to think through how we, as neighbors, can respond in a way that prioritizes safety and avoids escalation.

Walhalla has always been a special place for reflection and community, and I’d like to help preserve that sense of safety for everyone. If others have had similar experiences, or have ideas for how to address these concerns—whether through community awareness, reporting mechanisms, or other approaches—I’d really value your input.

His more scary videos are on white supremist websites, that I wont share here, but his “less” extreme content on the regular web can be seen here so you know who im talking about. He mostly operates between Mooney Mansion and Brynhild.

Hi Will,

I’ve witnessed Brian in the ravine many times, especially when the owls are present. He likes to engage folks and “educate” them about the owls. I avoid him knowing his past and temperament. Fortunately, he hasn’t been obnoxious but…

That said, the owls will be leaving their nest soon and his presence will likely increase. I’m in no way defending him just bringing awareness to why he may have the binoculars and he’s spending more time in the ravine.
