what is this plant ?

This plant is springing up all over our property. I’m pretty sure for the first time this year since I have been here in 1991. Does anyone know what it is? The 4th photo is taken at the base of the remaining stump from our hugh oak tree that was very close to our house and had to be removed because pruners in December found 6-8 squirrel nests in its trunk high up. Sad but hazard to our house and neighbor's. Photos of that below. Geologist friend counted rings - 120!

Those are all maple tree seedlings. They seem to be having a good year for sprouting. I'm seeing tons.

So since we can’t have so many trees coming up near the house, do I just get someone to come and pull all the seedlings out and put in yard waste?  I am having health stuff, including balance & trouble walking (hope I get an easy answer for that). Anyway, I can’t do it. 

Any ideas?

Deb,

There's no need to hire someone to weed, at least not at this stage. These are native plants. (A friend's ID app said they are sugar maples.)  Native plants have natural controls.  Most of what you are seeing will NOT mature.  Deer will eat some. Others will succumb to competition. Even those that survive summer might die over winter. 

Only a few will live.  If they are located in inconvenient places, I could help move small seedlings next year or the year after.    But for now,  don't worry.
