Hi -

Is anyone else dealing with a great deal of sap falling all over their property? We have one tree that gifts it to us each year on one part of our deck. THIS year though, it’s absolutely everywhere and on everything. Anyone else dealing with this and does anyone know what the reason is? Thanks.

Soooo much sap but when I googled why a mature Hackberry is dropping so much, I read that it’s actually honeydew from an aphid infestation. I’ve rigged a sail over my truck on the driveway. The driveway is drenched in this honeydew. Please move on aphids!

We just cut down a huge tree of heaven that hosted so many spotted lantern flies. They would spit disgusting sap all around, and it killed the greenery from other trees. If you have a tree of heaven, that may be the answer?

It’s probably from the SLF aka Spotted Lantern Fly - a big invader.

My Hackberry “situation” does not look like pics I’ve googled about SLF invasions but does align with what Google and farm extension offices offer for the Asian Wholly Aphid and their love of Hackberries and production of honeydew (poo).
