The resources that I have located so far can actually be used under
more than one element. Some of these are new to me and I have not
used, but others I have used in my classroom and love them.

-Readiness/Interest
Survey Pirate- www.surveypirate.com

This is a great site that can be used to create any pre unit or lesson
quiz. It is a more exciting way to see what each student knows about
a topic. It can also be used to create an interest survey in the
beginning of the year or interest questions can be added to pre lesson
quizzes. That way a teacher could try to plan lessons in ways that
would engage all learners, especially those who do not have as much
interest in a certain topic.

-Interest/Learning
Read Write Think- www.readwritethink.com

I love this site. Many students have a hard time with getting
motivated to write. This site has some wonderful interactive tools
and resources. One that is great, is a place where students can
create their own comic strip. They can add pictures and text, this
would be great to motivate students to have fun with writing. It also
has interactive lessons for informational text, etc. that would engage
learners on a topic that can sometimes seem boring.

-Interest/Learning

Smithsonian Education- http://smithsonianeducation.org/idealabs/universe/index.html

This entire site is great resource and tool for social studies and
science lessons. The URL I posted is an interactive tool on the
universe, I can not wait to use it in class. It really helps to show
the students size and distance of planets and other objects found in
the universe. I put it under interest as well, because students who
struggle in other subjects really seem to love science and could be a
site that could help motivate the students practicing reading and
comprehension on topics there enjoy.

-Learning
Brain Jr- www.brainpopjr.com

This is a great site that I have used for years. The students love
all of the video clips. This site can be used to introduce a lesson,
teach a lesson, or review. They have great quizzes that are leveled
so that you can Differenciate for your students.

Jennifer,
I like your survey pirate site, and feel I could use this in
Physical Education. I would use your idea and create a survey of
knowledge of the game before teaching the unit. Thanks for the great
source and idea.

Jennifer,
I LOVE Brainpop Jr. It can be used for every subject area and there
are plenty of different activities that go along with each skill. My
students love watching the videos and taking the quizzes. They are
very motivating and something that never gets old with them.

Ok..... so it was readwritethink.org. It wasn't showing up when I
typed .com. LOVE this site. They have some great activities that I
think will really motivate our students to write.
