Learning Community Assignment Week 6

McGraw Hill Online Learning Center

Don’t like reading the text but, for some reason, have no problem reading it on the web?  Then the Online Learning Center is for you.  Differentiated for students who hate textbooks but love the web, this is the site to look up all of that annoying vocabulary that social studies demands that you learn.

Magruder's American Government Textbook Website

Who says that the textbook doesn’t get it?  If you have one of the textbooks published by Prentice Hall, this website can be used to design a lot of differentiated assignments.  It has an interactive constitution, web hunt, crosswords, and many other activities.

Maybe, the students will do these assignments because it’s on the web.  It is worth a try.

This Nation

ThisNation.com is a repository of basic information, resources and historical documents related to American Government and Politics. ThisNation.com is researched and written by Jonathan Mott, Ph.D. (Political Science from the University of Oklahoma).

Teach the standards, not the textbook your school hands out.  Use this online one, and your students can never use the excuse “I didn’t have my textbook with me”.
