I Can't figure out how to install php-gd for PHP7.2. Is there any way to install/enable GD extension in xampp windows? I checked the php.ini file for php_gd2.dll but I can't find that line. It seems like GD is missing in PHP7.2. Any suggestions??
By default, the XAMPP PHP log file path is in /xampp_installation_folder/php/logs/php_error_log, but I noticed that sometimes it would not be generated automatically. Maybe it could be a Windows account write permission problem? I am not sure, but I created the logs folder and php_error_log file manually and then PHP logs were logged in it finally.

Thanks for your help. I think my problem is that I deleted all of the Moodle folders and files I could, and so now I can not open any xampp functions to uninstall. The remaining Moodle and xampp files and folders (over 1,000 of them) are either empty or small.
If anything goes wrong, and you followed these instructions correctly, you can easily restore the original MySQL by simply shutdown XAMPP and renaming xampp/MySQL to xampp/mariadb and xampp/mysql.old to xampp/mysql to put everything back as it was before.
