to wakulla historical society
Sunday before Thanksgiving you and the general public are all invited
to the grand unveiling of the exhibit about William Augustus Bowles.
The time is 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22 at the fort in St. Marks. There
will be music, food, and a little talk about the adventurer called
Bowles. He wanted to make this area into the Muskogee Nation in 1800
and attacked the Spanish fort to do so. Who was he? What happened to
him and the Muskogee Nation? Come and see for yourself. If you cannot
attend the grand opening of the Historical Society's first traveling
exhibit that is sponsored by the Florida Humanities Council, you can
take all your holiday visitors to the fort to see that and the other
exhibits and the video there through May next year. We've already been
asked if this exhibit could travel to Ft. Walton! So come by, learn a
bit more about our late 18th century history and take a look at this
intriguing British loyalist who ended up without a country at the end
of the American Revolution.
