Dear members,
First, thank you to all of you that attended last nights meeting. It
was very special and we all thank the McLoud family for the wonderful
portrait of Judge McLoud, as well as the other family documents they
have graciously donated to the society for our musuem. We will not be
meeting again until September, and that meeting will be held at the
Wakulla County Public Library at 7pm. The topic of the September
meeting is going to be photograph and document preservation. It is
sure to be another great meeting, and it is a good chance to learn how
to properly care for your family photos and other documents so that
they will be preserved for posterity. I will be avaliable over the
summer if you have any questions, and I will continue to keep you
updated on WCHS happenings.
Lastly, for anybody who may be interested, St. Marks First Baptist
Church will be celebrating their 100th anniversary this coming Sunday
(May 17th). The social gathering will start at 9:30am and the service
will start at 10am. It will not be a traditional church service, but
instead will celebrate the church's rich history. As I understand it,
they will even have past pastors present that will be each giving a
small speech about the church. St. Marks First Baptist Church is
located at 696 Port Leon Drive in St. Marks. The church is opening
their doors to anybody in the community whom wishes to attend. The
society has been invited, and it is a great opportunity to learn about
and celebrate the rich history of beautiful St. Marks.
Thank you all for a wonderful year so far, please have a wonderful and
safe summer and we will see you in September!
Sincerely,
Barbara Hines
