The reason I discovered the old group had expired is because I wanted to
announce the creation of a wiki for Wakashan.
Adam Werle had phoned me a few weeks earlier and reminded me of earlier
conversations about starting a wiki.
The nicest free site I found is NetCipia. I started a wiki at
http://wakashan.netcipia.net. While the wiki pages displayed
qʷi·qʷi·diččaq (Makah) correctly at first, the next day, I found the
characters had been garbled. You can see this at:
http://wakashan.netcipia.net/xwiki/bin/preview/Main/Individual+languages
Unfortunately, my e-mail to support has gone unanswered. Although I'd
like to keep that in case they do get around to addressing the issue,
I've started one at
http://wikihost.org/wikis/wakashan/wiki/start
This site has the required Unicode support, but also has the drawback of
an interface that isn't as pretty plus ads.
Anyway, I hope everyone will contribute to the wikihost wiki. It is easy
to write using the wiki software, and if you make a mistake or leave
something half-done, someone else will hopefully come along and clean it up.
BTW, hopefully everyone can read qʷi·qʷi·diččaq correctly. Google should
convey the encoding correctly, though it's likely that not all e-mail
software programs support it.
