Alaska Statewide Weather is produced by meteorologists on the Alaska Weather team. The message is two and half minutes long and is available seven days a week, by 4 PM. The broadcast features a general overview of the today's weather, the forecast for the next two days, and the current public weather warnings across Alaska.
Colonie Weather Online is privately owned and operated, and is not affiliated with the Town of Colonie (NY), or any business or governmental entity. This data is provided as a hobby from a personal weather station, and while regularly verified for accuracy, you should not base important decisions regarding life or property on information from this website.
There may be some instances in which online instruction cannot continue as planned, such as if delivery of instruction requires an individual who is teaching or supporting instruction to be on campus, or if an instructor is forced to teach from an off-campus site that has low connectivity or is otherwise not conducive to quality instruction. If an online course needs to be canceled, instructors are expected to communicate in a timely manner with students regarding any class obligations.
I have been searching the internet but I cannot find a weather channel like website/service that I can can view online. I know there are specific region video's but I was wondering if there was a running program very similar to what the weather channel does? Free would be preferable.
When you are in Dover weather is the beginning and end of everything. We felt we had a better handle on the coming storm to hit Ireland as we were trying to get a good of idea of what coming toward the Strait.
Nine current weather factors for the New Wilmington area can now be retrieved from the Field Station on the Internet by accessing "Weather Underground" and requesting weather conditions for zip code 16142. And the basic weather data that appear on Westminster's home page are also from the Field Station's equipment in the Robert Travis Weather Station.
Weather Underground is a commercial real-time weather service that provides weather reports for cities and regions across America and the world on Information comes from the National Weather Service, airports and personal weather stations. WU is an alternative to Weather Channel begun in 1982.
Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, WU was founded in 1995 as an offshoot of the University of Michigan's weather database. The service has grown independent of the University to provide weather details for print sources in addition to its online presence. In 2005, Weather Underground became the weather provider for Associated Press.
Westminster's weather station, named to honor Dr. Robert Travis, professor of biology emeritus, is situated about one mile southeast of downtown New Wilmington at an elevation of 1010 feet above sea level (most of New Wilmington is at 1000 feet). The system is a solar-powered and wireless VantagePro2 model manufactured by Davis Instruments. A total of 35 weather parameters are clocked at regular intervals and downloaded to a computer in the Nature Center. Nine of these parameters are accessed on the Internet by Weather Underground. These are: air temperature (as Fahrenheit or Celsius), on-going precipitation, wind speed at 5 meters above ground, wind direction, wind chill, humidity, dew point, barometric pressure and ultraviolet index.
Five-day weather forecasts, atmospheric conditions of visibility, pollen count and radar maps are added to the WU web page for New Wilmington from the National Weather Service and the nearest airport in New Castle. Google Earth satellite maps are also accessible for our area through the WU website.
Although not reported on Weather Underground, instruments in the weather station also measure soil temperatures in increments of 15 cm (about six inches) to a depth of 75 cm and total solar energy reaching the earth in our locality. Data of solar energy are being accumulated for correlation with the electric power generated daily by the 11 solar panels at the Field Station.
Weather data of varying degrees of sophistication have been logged with weather instruments at Westminster's Field Station since 1980. The acquisition of electronic data began in 2001 and further upgraded in 2008. 2011 marks the beginning of online accessibility.
This new online portal uses automated vehicle location (AVL) technology to provide current and historical snow route progress across the City. The on-board GIS based technology will also enable the portal to display time durations for when a route was last serviced, providing additional insight for residents to when and where they can expect to see plowing activity next.
The Public Works Department has been testing the service internally and is leveraging the additional operational awareness the portal provides, especially for improving coordination between the multiple departments and organizations who all have a role to play to keep the public and roadways safe during inclement weather. Public Works is excited to provide this additional communication tool to the public and hopes it will improve the level of information available to residents and reduce the number of customer service calls.
Anytime our community experiences inclement weather, our operations and leadership teams are driving roads throughout the evening and early morning, and in communication with various city and town officials, closely monitoring weather conditions. Based on road conditions and weather forecasts, we will make one of three decisions:
Additionally, families will continue to have the choice to obtain an excused absence for their student if for any reason they are unable or choose not to participate in a shortened online learning schedule, or if weather conditions in their area are problematic for transporting their student to school when we have in-person learning.
If the weather is such that the normal start is problematic due to weather conditions, we may implement a 2-hour weather delay. A weather delay will only be used if the delay will accommodate warmer temperatures at the bus stops and/or a substantive improvement in road conditions. Please note that weather delays are different from our scheduled late-start days. During a weather delay, school will begin two hours after the normal school start time (as opposed to scheduled monthly late-start days which begin two and a half hours after the normal school start time).
In the event of a two-hour weather delay, we will start school 2 hours later than regularly scheduled start times. Bus schedules will also start 2 hours later. (Please note that weather delays are different from our scheduled late-start days.)
Delayed starts due to inclement weather and school closure notifications are made via the following communication systems: the Messenger notification system (formerly called ShoutPoint), the district website, social media, and local and state media including newspapers and television. For more information on school closures visit: or to update your notification settings in Infinite Campus, visit
When inclement weather closes our schools to in-person learning, we will continue our current practice of providing a shortened online learning schedule. During these closures to in-person learning, students will receive synchronous direct instruction on a shortened schedule, with additional asynchronous time to complete assignments.
Instructional time is vitally important to supporting the continued academic success and well-being of our students, however we will be using a shortened schedule on these days so that families also have time to navigate other challenges that come with inclement weather.
All middle school students in grades 6-8 will use the schedule below on a shortened online learning day. Middle school schedules vary by school due to the block scheduling patterns used at each school.
All high school school students in grades 9-12 will use the schedule below on a shortened online learning day. Students will attend the classes scheduled for the shortened online learning day at the following times.
When schools are closed to in-person learning due to inclement weather, transportation and other activities, both in-district and out-of-district, may also be canceled. Decisions regarding after-school athletics, activities, or events will be made by noon on the day of the online learning schedule.
Notifications for school disruptions due to inclement weather are made via the following communication systems: the Messenger notification system in Infinite Campus (email, voice, or text based on your notification settings), the district website, Twitter (@svvsd), and local and state media including newspapers and television.
A complete home study course on Marine Weather. Includes the Textbook Modern Marine Weather By David Burch and the ALL NEW Weather Trainer Live software program, as well as covering online course tuition.
This course uses live weather data accessed through custom Internet links to illustrate many of the topics it covers. We will also monitor a hypothetical coastal or ocean passage at the time of the course to see how the real world evolved and what decisions might be best at the time.
This course provides recurrent training in high-altitude weather to help meet the requirements of FAR 91.1065(a)(2) for Part 91K operators, Part 125.287(6), and FAR 135.345(a)(3) for commuter and on-demand operators. Satisfies IS-BAO recurrent training requirements. Fast, Easy, and Fun Learning, Covering...
