I've been looking for decent portrait software for a couple of years now, have tried different trial versions of "Portrait Professional", "Imagenomic Portraiture" and so on, but their prices were too high for someone like myself, who doesn't make a living shooting portraits.
Occasionally I'll take photos of friends or family and would like to -painlessly- fix some of the temporary or permanent skin imperfections that can cloud their overall appearance. It's one of the things that holds me back from enjoying portrait photography, fearing that they won't always like the outcome.
Although it can easily be overdone, PT Portrait gives you a lot of control over the level of smoothing, texture, color and so forth. You can go as natural or as fake as you'd like. I prefer to keep it somewhere in the middle.
All very interesting. All but the third example are well within bounds - the third one is quite remarkable, but the sitter surely looks like their daughter... I find that leaves me feeling uneasy. But it depend on what the sitter thinks and not me. I'm sure dating websites are full of shots that have been through such software
Thanks! Yeah, the amount of convincing changes one can make to someone's face these days is unsettling. I've always known that models are sometimes heavily altered, but having that power in my own hands is a little frightening. It could easily reach a point at which the person doesn't even look like themselves anymore. What I like about this software is that skin texture and pores still look natural.
Yes I checked out the portrait professional software and its amazing/scary. In some sense there are just a bunch of standard things you do with portraits to make the subject happy so its like automating PS. Accuracy is definitely low on the list but it has to be believable.
