Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1) Create a Sim using story mode. 2) Save the Sim/family. 3) Place the Sim/family from the gallery instead of directly after making them.
What happens when the bug occurs? The funds have changed AND the skills and career levels were completely wiped from the Sim/family file.
What do you expect to see? According to other posts in this forum, it's normal for the funds to change when saving a Sim/family file. However, also according to other posts here, the career and skill levels should remain in the family file, and they do not.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
I don't understand why the skills and career aren't saving with the files, as other answers in this forum have said they are expected to do. Unless they were incorrect, and story mode only works if you immediately place the family instead of saving it first.
Just as a side note, if this is how it's supposed to work, it should be changed. There are ways to cheat to get money, skills, and career promotions, so trying to prevent things from being "too easy" by being able to save story mode benefits and/or family funds is just silly.

I don't think you can. With Batman 2 and Lord of the Rings, those checkpoints only saved your progress as far as collectibles and stud collection. It doesn't actually save your level progress. When you play the level again, you start at the beginning. Sucks. I never even used them since the levels only take between 10-20 minutes each (plus it has been known to glitch minikits in other games).
I don't know why it seems you can't play level 5 or continue your game at all. Don't you 'manually' have to go to the location of where level 5 starts? In Batman 2 and LotR, there were icons on the map for the level locations and you just traveled to that location. I haven't started Marvel yet, trying to finish up Potter 1 first.
When I go back to where the level starts, there is no longer the start point to begin ( Black Widow has. To. Avoid a security camera to pull. A handle to open a door)it's just an empty area with no people around, unlike how the level began during story mode.
sounds like you started a new game in story mode. I have both story mode and online mode going, although i don't play online anymore, and haven't lost any progress when i was switching back and forth. See if you have any save points in story mode you can go back to near where you left off.
Sorry man if you got a new PS, your save file is on the old one it's not on your account... your online will be the same I assume( I don't play RDO but that tracks) however your story mode save file is stored on the physical device, the only way to recover it is to take a USB drive and transfer the file from the old PlayStation to the new PlayStation.
The Long Dark survival mode has no tutorial, no in-game help files, no in-game map, and no "helpful" advice. It also tends to be unforgiving to the unwary, ignorant, and careless. Knowledge is life. Be aware that survival mode, if you did not know this already, was formed from the game survival mechanic sandbox, which proved to be unexpectedly popular, so would not be as full or complete a "survival" game as a purpose-built survival game. It was intended to support Story mode.
That said, if you know nothing about the game mechanics, it might be worthwhile to go through the first two episodes of story mode with Will Mackenzie. A tutorial was explicitly incorporated into them on the assumption that new players to TLD would know nothing about how the game worked. Since you can save the game at points, aside from automatic saves, death in Story mode as you learned how to do things would not be so painful as the perma-death of survival mode.
Be sure to ask in the forums if there is something you don't understand. Everyone has been through similar experiences in TLD. Just try to be as precise as you can about what the problem seems to be to minimize confusion on our part.
1: Start with Story mode, as it serves as a sort of tutorial that introduces gameplay elements slowly, and so far only uses 5 maps. That way you can master one thing before trying something new, so you're never truly overwhelmed. Also it has save and load functionality so you can feel more free to take risks.
2: Start with Survivor mode, as it has all crafting templates unlocked from the start, all maps available, and availability of all weapons (sans firearms on Interloper). This, coupled with Pilgrim, can allow you to figure things out for yourself without being in serious danger. That said, it does have permadeath, so you can't get complacent.
But honestly, I'd say just play survival and try the different difficulty modes. Pick the one that kills you every single time you're starting to have fun. If you like survival games, Pilgrim is not for you and Voyager is also way too educational. Start with Stalker which is reasonably difficult and has every single lootable item available, Interloper is more balanced mechanics wise and more fun to play IMO, but it cuts a huge chunk of the items in the game so it would deprive you of guns, high level clothing, good tools and so on.
I'm new to this as well. I got it on Switch when it ported over. Never heard of the game before, and it's not my typical game, but I enjoy this one sooo much. I started with story mode and it took some time to figure things out. I died like 3 times in the beginning and then I created a No Stress no Threat survival mode to learn about each region in a more calm setting. I find both to be very good for learning the game. But I guess it depends what works for you.
Saving the game allows the player to save their position in the rainforest and keep their inventory the same so they can safely quit the game and return to continue where they last saved.
For survival mode, saving can only be done on certain buildings which the player will first need to build. During story mode the player also has the option to save using calendars found at certain locations.
Fixed - Sometimes food decays when save is loaded.

In this level, there is a similar button and switch setup like the one in Funky Fungi. Piperbot will have to alternate between constructing and destroying the cheese world to complete the final mission.
(Note: The switch allows the player to switch between on demand construction/destruction and constant construction/destruction. Use both blue and black wires to connect to the breadboard if not enough blue wires available).
Once back in the game, go to the power block (blue block with yellow blocks on it) and press the button. You will see that the button makes a bridge for you to follow. Find the crafting table and right click with your wrench.
PipingMode instructions will have you build a second button. Once back in the game, the second button will react to the red blocks. The first button reacts to the blue blocks. Continue to follow the blue path until you find another crafting table.
When you see what both power blocks are doing, be sure to look out for a crack in the geometry. Keep building destroying, and alternating from constant and on-demand mode until you get through. When the world is saved, a message is played.

A snapshot's state and selections will not be updated at a data reload. It will always reflect the data that existed at the point in time the snapshot was taken. However, live data sheets are not static and will be affected by a data reload.
When you take a snapshot you can make an annotation for your snapshot. The annotation helps you distinguish between the different snapshots in the snapshot library when you build your story. The annotation is not visible when you play the story.
