Hello everybody,
I have a very general question about the outcome of a mediation analysis and would very much appreciate your input on this.
In
a classic mediation model, we investigate whether certain brain
responses (M) mediate the relationship between painful stimulus
intensity (X) and various behavioral outcomes, e.g. pain rating (Y). We
were wondering:
1. whether the amplitudes of the brain
responses influence the detectability of a mediation effect? In other
words, would the same mediation effect become significant when the
amplitudes of the brain response are high, and stay undetected when the
amplitudes are lower (assuming an equal variance of the brain responses
in the two scenarios)?
2. If yes, does the M3 Toolbox somehow control for the influence of absolute amplitudes on mediation effects?
