During the last month of my study abroad program, I found myself avoiding calendars. I was in denial that I would have to leave in a few weeks. My host university had become my home and leaving without knowing when I will be back was an unbearable thought.

If you are lucky enough to go on an exchange program, you will live the best year of your life. You will grow in unexpected ways. You will make lifelong friends. You will step out of your comfort zone and you will overcome your fears. You will make your wildest dreams come true. Yes, you will visit those places that you used to just see in pictures.

During the last two days of my exchange, I woke up to watch the sunrise on the city, I took pictures in every place that I loved, I visited places in the city I had told myself I would visit, I stayed up all night talking with friends, I recorded a tour of campus, I attended a baseball game, I personally said goodbyes to all my professors.

I already know I will miss this place so much. I will miss walking on the mall on a snowy or a sunny day. I will miss this crazy weather. I will miss hanging out in Skutt. I will miss waking up on Sundays with the American National Anthem played in the stadium next door. I will miss running late to class because I live next door. I will miss the squirrels and the rabbits on campus. I will miss the voice that says the walk signal to cross 24th street is now on. I will miss spending dining dollars like crazy at the beginning of the semester and then starving the last weeks. I will miss late night walks.

But most of all I will miss the six gems I found in Nebraska, my friends. I came across people who helped me grow up and find myself. I now know where I want to go, what I want to do, what I should be looking for, and what I deserve. I am a different person and a better version of myself.

All classified and exempt permanent employees of the Pinellas County Unified Personnel System who have at least one year of consecutive service at the beginning of the current fiscal year (Oct. 1) are eligible to participate if they have sufficient leave time.

Employees can exchange annual leave earned in the future. If you elect to participate, beginning on the first pay period in January, the leave you earn each pay period will be placed in a separate leave bank that will be paid out on the frequency that you elect. Leave hours that you already have in your leave bank are not eligible for exchange.

Payment dates are determined so that employees will have had the opportunity to accumulate the leave they elect to exchange by the date of exchange. For this reason, employees who are selecting the one-time payment of 100% of their election will have that payment in the last quarter of the year. See the current Payout Chart.

No. Elections are final. All elections to exchange annual leave will become valid as of the end of the annual enrollment period. After that date, employees may not revoke, increase or reduce their election.

Susan is a classified service employee with 10 years of service. She has 238 hours of annual leave on the first pay of the fiscal year. Because of her leave balance Susan can elect to exchange up to 160 hours leave. Based on her length of service, Susan earns 184 hours of annual leave per year, or 7.08 hours per pay period. If Susan elects to exchange 120 hours of leave, she will not have earned the full 120 hours until the August payroll period. All the leave she earns in the year before that date will be restricted to be paid out in her leave exchange. Susan can use her leave earned after August for ordinary absences.

Tom is an exempt employee with eight years of service. Tom has 58 hours of annual leave on the first pay of the fiscal year. Tom is eligible to exchange only 40 hours of leave because of the amount of leave in his bank. It might not be wise for Tom to elect to exchange leave. He earns 184 hours of leave per year, and will earn the full 40 hours he desires to exchange by early April. However, all 40 hours of leave Tom earns before that date will be restricted to his annual exchange and not be available to use for ordinary absences. While Tom technically can exchange leave, doing so leaves him in jeopardy of being without pay should he be absent more than a few days. In this case it would not be wise for Tom to exchange leave even though he is entitled to do so.

Human Resources recommends that you exercise caution if your leave balance is near the minimum required. Should you elect to exchange leave, all leave you earn in the new calendar year will only be available for your leave exchange payments until your elected hours are reached. If you experience unanticipated absences and exhaust your leave bank, you will not be able to use leave designated for and accrued towards the leave exchange. You could be in a non-pay status, like Tom in Example 2 above.

A school board may permit a foreign exchange student to attend school in the school district without payment of tuition pursuant to 121.84(1)(c). The district of attendance, which may or may not be the district where the foreign exchange student temporarily resides, should also count the student on the PI-1563 pupil membership count report.

Student who is, or whose parent/guardian is, a migratory fisher, dairy worker, or agricultural worker, AND who in the preceding 36 months has moved from one school district to another in order for the worker to obtain temporary or seasonal employment in agricultural or fishing work

Migrant Status is required for all WISEdata collection records for all grades. If the student has a confirmed migrant status, you should submit this information to WISEdata. Submitted migrant information will mark the student with a Yes value for Migrant Status in the Student Details of WISEdata. Elements are all stored at the student level and shared across districts. These will be the values as of the snapshot.

A Certificate of Eligibility (COE) must be on file in the district verifying the student's eligibility. To confirm migrant status or verify a Certificate of Eligibility (COE), please contact the Wisconsin Migrant Education Program staff at (608) 266-9629.

It is the responsibility of the school district to determine if a student is a resident of the school district. Each resident student who attends public school will be counted in the same manner, using the PI-1563 Pupil Count process.

If the student has a confirmed immigrant status, you should submit this information to WISEdata. Submitted immigrant information will mark the student with a Yes value for Immigrant (T3) Status in the Student Details of WISEdata. Elements are all stored at the student level and shared across districts. Native Language code will also be required for those marked with immigrant status (unless PPP, DOC, DHS).
