You have to press "TV Select" and "0" simultaneously...

Why? If you want to send tapes to mates in the US, let 'em buy pal
capable vcrs. They'd expect us to have ntsc vcrs, so fair's fair.
(feel free to ignore this, I'm just kinda curious).

Yeah, and it's a great vcr, ain't it? (I have the 680)

But do the latest US VCRs have PAL-playback capability?

Can they, though? I doubt it. (I bought an NTSC recording VCR for just this
purpose.)

Have a good one,

Mic. (Return address will work as is...)

I use an NTSC 3.58/4.43 recording Sony VCR. There's one reason
I bought this VCR and that's to boot LD's. Also it boot's DVD
just fine. And VHS is astoundingly good when used with excellent
masters. And LD/DVD is great mastering material.

My son has this video and Manual.
To use NEC TV you need to press TV Select & 0 (Zero)

Hi,
I have the nv-670 and whilst it records ntsc, it doesnt come out that crash
hot even with a dvd master. Apart from that (and a niggling thing of not
being able to edit an existing vcr program entry) its a great vcr. Inside
it even has a neat little modular design with pull out pcbs...
Cheers
Steve

I've never seen an domestic PAL/NTSC VHS deck that does perfect NTSC
recording. I'd guess it'd have something to do with the manufacturer's
need to compromise in terms of head alignment to handle the NTSC
format while still delivering a spot-on PAL picture (which it does; I
have the NV-620mk2, the same thing except it's without jog/shuttle,
has a better remote layout and only comes in burnished silver :)
