Hello all,

Many of you will be familiar with the Bunnings Yagi antenna implemented by Dave VK6KV during an earlier Activity Day.   They work very well and are robust for hacking through bush - the tape measure elements flick back undamaged and can be folded against the boom for easy transport.

I have taken enough bits and pieces to Japan for the Scouts in my area there, to construct and thus to do some fox hunting, etc.   This time I intend to take a few more of the "unobtainium" items - the PVC reticulation pipe, tees, crosses, etc that were sourced from Bunnings, hence the name.

I might have left my running a bit late because it looks like my local Bunnings store has "rationalised" their stock holdings of retic fittings.   So it might mean a special order and consequent time delay.

Question... is there anyone interested in obtaining some of those retic fittings, notably the tee pieces, the four-way crosses and maybe the four-way junctions.   You will need to liaise with Dave for the building plans and source the extra materials - unless there is sufficient interest for another "build day" in which case someone might volunteer to round up the necessary materials.

Please let me know ASAP if interested - by the weekend if possible!

The Holman fittings in question are:
Tee, 15mm part number PVT15   One per antenna, holds the director element

Cross, 4-way 15mm part number PVJC154   Two per antenna, one holds the driven element and the other holds the reflector element and provides a vertical "up" orientation for tuning

Junction 4-way 15mm part number PVJ154   Provides a means of achieving vertical or horizontal polarisation.   Dave and I have discussed using two extra tee pieces in lieu of this for a "Mark II" version if the PVJ154 is no longer available.

The director and reflector holders need some internal plastic ribs ground away - a Dremel or similar would be your friend.   Safety goggles and sturdy gloves should be available - the tape measure elements offer very sharp ends when cut!
