Greetings:
VK6RPH 50.066 was the licensed frequency in 2018 and the was the frequency it was still set to at the digital rebuild in 2019 and has been run at Wireless Hill in test/soak mode pending the establishment of a new site somewhere on the scarp. That is taking much longer than expected!
Unfortunately the new 6m PA failed repeatedly so the original CW beacon was returned to service and remains the current status.
As for frequency allocation see section 2.4 in the attachment, future intentions for some to be moved are set out in S2.5 which concludes:
“In practice some of the criteria listed above may conflict, so compromises must be made. In addition any
revised allocation plan must take into account the frequencies of existing beacons and not require wholesale
frequency changes. The allocation plan is therefore a compromise between what would be ideal and what
already exists.
(b) Band plan beacon segments
The band plan beacon segments for bands above 52 MHz are as follows:
52.300 - 52.500 Note 1
<SNIP>
WIA TAC - Guidelines for Unattended Transmitters – Beacons Updated 11/03/2014 Page 6
NOTE 1: From 2014, all 52 MHz beacons have been closed or migrated to 50 MHz. No new beacon
frequency allocations are to be made in this segment. All new beacons will be allocated frequencies in
accordance with section 2.4 (c) above…. .”
There may be some more recent papers and the new Band Plan may have future implications also.
How or when the VK6RPH ACMA licence details were changed must have been after my time and missed scrutiny, but is now the responsibility of the WA VHF Group Committee to rectify.
Hope this helps.
73,
Bob,
VK6KW

On april 15 1989 at approx 0025 utc VK6RPH 6 metre beacon was on 50.066
I know this to be 100% correct because i was trying to decode a strange CW beacon on 50.069 and i had to narrow the passband way down to get rid of VK6RPH.
The beacon on 50.069 was K6FV in california
This was the first and only time K6FV on 50.069 has ever been heard in Perth
No other beacon from USA on 6 metres has ever been heard in Perth since that day.
From memory, way back the WIA? decided to try to get all 6 metre beacons up above 50.400 but it did not work too well i think.
The 50.460 mentioned may have been the nominated frequency for the perth beacon.
I cannot remember any perth 6m beacon ever being anywhere on 50mhz being anywhere except .066.
In the old days when we only had 52 to 54 mhz the perth beacon was from memory around 50.300 [this could be wrong?]
The 50.460 under discussion on the acma site may be a leftover from the really old days?
All from memory

Hi All,
The VK6RPH beacon is on 50.066 which was the national beacon allocation at the time (and I can usually hear it here at OF88ii), as far as I know the Tx is an FM828 into a multipolar antenna @ 50m ASL.
The error in all listings should be corrected.

The VHF Groups web site shows VK6RPH 6m beacon on 50.460MHz.
Don't have 6m antenna to check at the moment.

VK6RPH on 6 metres is actually on 50.066 not .046
looks like a typo?

Notes:
- Some of these beacons might not operate continuously, or not on all frequencies they are licenced for.
- Frequencies shown are the ones registered with ACMA but might not be 100% what is actually transmitted.
- VK6RBP is part of the International Beacon Project and so if you hear something on these frequencies there is a chance it is one of the IBP beacons in another country.
- It is possible there are other beacons in operation that are not licenced (yet?).
