This might be an alternative to the usual flowerpot or pogostick while I am up in JA land.  The challenge here is accessing VHF UHF repeaters in an evironment where mountains are King hi hi.   Every db counts.

Hi Dennis,

It doesn’t look like it but it is horizontal, so might be a bit difficult to use on repeaters haha. Allegedly has gain similar to a 4el yagi so an interesting option if you see much ssb up there.

I am pretty much restricted to D-Star or FM here unless I damage the bank account hihi.   Inspired by your posting I might try my hand at a loop fed yagi appropriately oriented of course.

Lack of SSB?

As you may know, radios here must wear a conformity mark which pretty much means buying radios intended for the local market.   At eye waterig prices..

Yes, operators can BYO or buy on line etc radios for other countries however said radios must be submittrd to the authorities for approval checks.   I woud have loved to have brought my Yaesu FT991A and launched onto some SSB but the freight and conformity checks would have been prohibitive.

Regardless, thanks for bringing this antenna to the attention of the club.   The more the merrier.
