Yes, an economical option.
Keep in mind the "shield" that Dave KV and Mark EZ collaborated on to create a fox. I've used it to beacon RTTY a while back.
And back in the day (cough cough) i bought a couple of DRA818 txcvr modules, one VHF and the other UHF. They are FM only IIRC but thought it might be good to try.
Then i ran out of Round To Its.
Not sure about their spectral purity. Definitely not the sort of thing I could use in JA.
