Hello VHF Group members and friends,

I have been a little occupied lately and only just noticed an announcement that went out on the 4th April, on WARG's new announcements list detailing their next WARG Activity day. (see below)

We, the VHF Group, will be hosting at Wireless Hill, advertised hours are 10am until 3pm "or so", and I am available for the entire duration (I'll probably get there around 9:30 to set up).

VHF Group members are of course welcome to come and meet up with some of the WARG tech folk, and get a look at the kinds of things they do, but nothing is required of us beyond some tables chairs and power points, all of which I have under control.

TECHNICAL ACTIVITY SESSION:
WARG’s next Technical Activity session will be next Saturday, April 11th, at Wireless Hill in Ardross. We’re grateful to the VHF Group for sharing the use of their regular venue. We aim to start around 10AM and should be there until 3pm or so.

Specific ideas for this session are to investigate cooling improvements to the Yaesu DR-1X VK6RFM repeater, to try and solve the overheating issue. We’ve also got a couple of cavity filter sets to keep working on, plus there will be other stuff to work with if people are keen.

The idea of these Tech sessions is to get together, break out the tools and test equipment, and get our hands dirty, repairing, modifying, setting up and testing repeater equipment, ready for site visits.

The aim is to share skills and knowledge, so more of us are able to keep the repeaters going. Plus, it’s a great social catch up, even if people want to come past for a chat. If the weather is good, we might even fire up the BBQ for a sausage sizzle? So if you are free on Saturday, why not come past for a look? Wireless Hill ‘Operator’s Cottage’, Telefunken Drive in Ardross, from 10AM to 3PM or so.

Cheers, Dave VK6KV
